Doctorate of Business Administration Guide

AMBA is recognised globally as the most important programme-specific accreditation in postgraduate management education. We created accreditation of the Doctorate of Business Administration, DBA, in response to confusion in the market regarding the definition and the value of this degree, and we  provide a clearly articulated benchmark for quality, enabling all stakeholders to form a complete understanding and what it is designed to achieve. We're pleased to say that we are the only major organisation that specifically accredits DBA programmes.

Designed in consultation with leading business schools, our accreditation criteria defines the DBA as a doctoral-level, trans-disciplinary research degree designed to make a contribution to professional practice as well as to theory. This means that a DBA is in fact equivalent in standing and rigour to a PhD, but with an output that demonstrates the scholar’s ability to solve real business problems. The DBA therefore prepare scholars to be innovators and change agents within organisations.
