The Association of MBAs accredits DBA (Doctor of Business Administration) programmes. These are research degrees, equivalent to a PhD, which additionally must make a contribution to professional practice. The Association is committed to promoting the development of this innovative type of programme.
As part of this support for the DBA community, the Association has established a DBA Consortium, a discussion forum for directors of accredited DBA programmes, and an annual DBA Research Symposium, an event aimed at the discussion and dissemination of current DBA research, catering for DBA students, supervisors, and programme management.
The DBA Consortium has been established to promote the value of the DBA as a unique doctoral-level qualification which makes an explicit contribution to professional practice as well as theory. As such, it provides a forum for debate amongst the network of accredited DBA programmes.
The DBA Research Symposium is a unique opportunity for DBA students to present their current research to peers from accredited DBA programmes around the world, and receive critical feedback on their progress from external senior faculty and colleagues in an informal environment. In addition to assisting students with their research, the Symposium also offers fantastic networking opportunities which will continue to aid participants with their studies and beyond.
The most recent DBA Symposium was held in Grenoble, France, in February 2011.
The abstracts of DBA research presented at the Symposium can be found here >>.
The next Symposium is due be held in 2012.
