Mission:

The forum for leadership development and postgraduate management education.

The key points of this statement are:

  1. Accessibility - the target audience is not only business schools - academic faculty and students - but also practitioners looking for insight into continued leadership and management development.
  2. Integration - leadership development and management education are intrinsically linked as approaches to enhancing individual, group and organisational capability.  The theory and practice of leadership and management development are likewise mutually informing.
  3. Debate - BLR serves as a forum for open debate and actively encourages competing and alternative perspectives on leadership development and management education.
  4. Contribution - articles will be considered for publication according to their ability to contribute towards this mission.

Aims and Scope:

BLR features articles and debate that contribute to leadership development and/or management education. Articles are accepted and organised under the following categories:

  • Scholarly
  • Opinion Piece
  • Innovative Practice
  • Educational Resources
  • Book Reviews

For full details on submission guidelines for these categories, please click here.

Topics under these headings could include:

  • Leadership development in business schools
  • Leadership development in other arenas
  • New and innovative thoughts on leadership
  • Controversial and unconventional ideas on leadership
  • Challenges facing leadership and management education
  • The theory and/or practice of leadership and/or management learning
  • Best practice and/or innovations in leadership development
  • Best practice and/or innovations in management education

As a forum, contributions from all stakeholders - management practitioners, academics, employers and students - are vital to the success of BLR. New articles are always welcome and actively encouraged, as are comments on previously submitted articles. It is the aim of BLR to publish the ongoing debate surrounding these issues, in order to foster a community of interactive learning from all its stakeholders.

Constructive comment is welcome on all articles, irrespective of its origin or focus. For example, practitioner comment on the suitability of more academic theory could provide a new and useful angle on the issue. Contentious issues in leadership and management education are encouraged in order to stimulate discussion and further debate.

Please send any comments, contributions, or general questions to Mark Stoddard, Associate Editor.
